I have the pleasure, on behalf of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, the Staff of the Embassy and on my own behalf, to extend warm greetings and best wishes to all Ghanaian Associations, Unions and Churches and to all our compatriots in France and in Portugal for the year 2019.
In 2018, we continued having fruitful engagements with various multilateral institutions and organizations as well as diplomatic missions in France and in Portugal, to further deepen the bilateral relations between Ghana, France and Portugal and to further deepen the confidence the international Community has in Ghana. We worked hard in support of Government’s commitment to building a progressive and a prosperous Ghana beyond Aid.
On the Consular front, the Embassy pursued its unwavering engagement of fostering and nurturing a closer relationship with Ghanaian Associations, Unions and Churches in France. We undertook Consular visits to our fellow compatriots in other cities including Strasbourg, Toulouse and Lyon to discuss issues of importance to the development of our dear nation and how best we could improve our consular and welfare services to Ghanaians living in France. Our Consular and Diaspora activities in 2018 culminated with the highly successful Ghana Family Fun Day which took place on 29th September 2018. I wish to thank you all for your individual and collective involvement in the achievement of our goals for the common good of Ghana.
The Embassy, in 2018, requested the Associations, Unions and Churches to furnish the Head of the Consular Section with the following information to undertake an update of our database:
- current mailing address (postal address and email, if applicable),
- complete list and mobile telephone numbers of their current Executive members and in the case of the Churches, the name and mobile telephone number of the Head Pastor or his representative and the Church secretary, if applicable.
It would be very much appreciated if those who have not yet submitted the above-requested information would do so at their earliest possible time. We would at this time also encourage Student Unions and Groups to also register their membership with the Embassy.
In 2019, the Mission intends to undertake more consular visits to our compatriots living in other cities outside Paris especially those I have not yet visited. I will also be making visits to compatriots in Portugal. The Embassy is also undertaking several reforms as part of efforts to modernize its Consular Services for more efficiency.
Furthermore, I am glad to inform the Community that the construction of a new and modern Chancery building of the Embassy that befits our nation will start this year. The Embassy will, therefore, relocate from the Villa Saïd offices to 21 boulevard de la Saussaye, 92200 Neuilly-sur-Seine in the very near future. Details regarding this move will be communicated to you in due time.
In view of the above developments and reforms, I would encourage all members of the Ghanaian Community to regularly visit the Embassy’s website www.paris.embassy.gov.gh for updates.
The Embassy looks forward to working hard and harmoniously with our Ghanaian Community throughout this year and beyond.
On behalf of the H.E the President of the Republic, the Staff of the Embassy, and on my own behalf, I wish you all A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.
GOD BLESS OUR HOMELAND GHANA.
