Please read carefully the following requirements and guidelines on the authentication of documents.

The Mission certifies all documents issued in Ghana. These include birth, marriage, death and school certificates as well as drivers’ licenses among others.

All applicants who send their requests by post are advised to attach a self-addressed envelope and the appropriate stamps to their request for the return of the documents. It is recommended that the documents are sent by a registered mail (lettre récomendée)

REQUIREMENTS

BIRTH/DEATH/MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES

  1. The certificate should be notarised by a Notary Public in Ghana and should be covered by an attestation from the Judicial Service of Ghana;
  2. Thereafter, the document should be sent to the Legal and Consular Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Accra for a covering letter;
  3. The certificate should be translated into French;

SCHOOL CERTIFICATES

  1. The certificate should be authenticated by the issuing authority;

 OR

notarised by a Notary Public in Ghana. (NB: All documents notarised by a Notary Public should be covered by an attestation from the Judicial Service);

  1. Thereafter, the document should be sent to the Legal and Consular Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Accra for a covering letter;
  2. The certificate should be translated into French;

FEE    :           €35

 

DRIVERS’ LICENSE

  1. The license should have a covering letter from the issuing authority certifying its authenticity;

 OR

notarised by a Notary Public in Ghana. (NB: All documents notarised by a Notary Public should be covered by an attestation from the Judicial Service);

  1. Thereafter, the document should be sent to the Legal and Consular Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Accra for a covering letter;
  2. The license should be translated into French;

POLICE REPORTS/CRIMINAL RECORDS

  1. The document should be notarised by a Notary Public in Ghana. (NB: All documents notarised by a Notary Public should be covered by an attestation from the Judicial Service);
  2. Thereafter, the document should be sent to the Legal and Consular Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Accra for a covering letter;
  3. The certificate should be translated into French;

AFFIDAVITS

All affidavits/Legal claims sworn before a Commissioner of Oath for a change of name, profession, date of birth etc. should be covered by an attestation from the Judicial Service of Ghana as well as the Legal and Consular Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Accra.

The document should also be translated into French

COMPANY/OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS

All Company/Official documents meant for use in Ghana should have 

  1. endorsements from the relevant Ministry in France or Portugal;
  2.  endorsement from the French/Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

METHOD OF PAYMENT

  1. cash                                        -           At the Embassy;
  2. Mandat Cash                                   -           If applicant is resident in France;
  3. International money order-       If applicant is resident in Portugal;
  4. Online payments               -           To start soon.

PROCESSING TIME

Forty-eight (48) working hours from receipt of documents at the Embassy.
