FAREWELL TO THE LATE CEASAR AMINOU
H.E. Johanna Odonkor Svanikier commiserating with the President of the Ghanaian Friendship Association in Strasbourg Mme. Vivian Mullings after the burial service of the late Ceasar Aminou
Following the sudden tragic death of Ceasar Aminou a Ghanaian post-graduate student at the University of Strasbourg in a drowning accident on the 26th of July 2015, the Ambassador of Ghana to France H.E. Mrs. Johanna Odonkor Svanikier together with her husband Mr. Thomas Svanikier and Mr. Michael Frimpong a consular officer at the Ghana mission in Paris joined the grieving Ghanaian community of Strasbourg for a church service in memory of the deceased presided over by Pastor Joejo Dadzie on 12th August, 2015.
After a welcome message by the President of the Ghanaian Friendship Association in Strasbourg, Mme Vivian Mullings at a remarkably solemn and dignified gathering organised by the Ghanaian community in Strasbourg to bid farewell to the deceased, H.E. Ambassador Svanikier gave an address which paid tribute to Mr. Ceasar Aminou for his educational achievements and his service to his community. She said his family could take some comfort from the strong show of support exhibited by the Ghanaian community in Strasbourg. She commended the community associations for their unity, organisational skills, work ethic and strong sense of community and congratulated them for improving lives within their community through their hard work and selflessness. The united front they presented had enabled strong advocacy on behalf of the deceased's family by the Ghanaian Students'
Association led by its President Mr. Jacques Amechia who had succeeded in persuading the University authorities to take responsibility for the repatriation of the deceased's body to Ghana. They further raised over €5000 most of which will go to the deceased's family. H.E. Ambassador Svanikier presented a donation of €1000 on behalf of herself, her husband and the staff of the Embassy of Ghana in Paris. The Ambassador regretted that an unhappy event had brought her to Strasbourg and promised to return in happier times.
